Job Description:

  • The Materials Manager is responsible for the planning and procurement of materials, material and information flow, and the management and control of inventory in achieving the business objectives. This role oversees inventory, planning and purchasing operations, requires collaboration with engineers, designers, and sales to determine the materials needed to complete manufacturing or construction projects according to specifications, research vendors for those materials, then order them. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include

    • Partner with Supply Chain Management on supply chain development needs across the business to ensure optimum quality, value, and reliability .
    • Partner and collaborate with Sales / Marketing, Engineering, Quality and Operations (SI&OP) in developing and maintaining optimal material supply.
    • Drive continuous improvement and deploy best practices around waste reduction, scrap, material handling optimization, material component preservation as well as overall inventory stock level optimization in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines, goals, and objectives.
    • Develop and report on agreed upon key metrics (KPI).
    • Champion continued optimization and utilization of Thermon's AX operating system.
    • Record and assess all materials quality, movement, and expenditure.
    • Manage the distribution of supplies across the organization.
    • Manage, monitor, and provide visibility on inventory levels, turns monthly.
    • Collaborate with management (SI&OP) to create and implement optimal forecasting models.
    • Oversee and support subordinates and new employees.
    • Provide plan to drive the purchasing of raw materials and supplies according to project specifications.
    • Provide insight and planning data to support optimal supplier contractual arrangements regarding stocking programs, capacity planning, and pricing.
    • Oversee procedures for receiving and storing raw materials.
    • Supervise and maintain the physical inventory of materials.
    • Manage, supervise, evaluate, and coach staff members.
    • Develop, monitor, and maintain department budgets in accordance with plan.
    • Enforce compliance and administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations as needed. Key Characteristics, Competencies and Skills
      • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, or Business Administration; Master's degree (MBA or Engineering) preferred .
      • A minimum of 8 years' experience in supply chain / manufacturing environment, global awareness / experience.
      • Solid understanding of Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system (or equivalent ERP systems).
      • Advanced knowledge of forecasting and budgeting processes.
      • Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
      • Analytical mind with excellent problem-solving abilities.
