- A minimum of two years of experience as a police first-line
supervisor (Sergeant or equivalent).
- Holds an Advanced T.C.O.L.E. Peace Officer certification or be
able to achieve this certification within one year of
employment.Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess or be able to obtain within one year the designation of
International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified
Emergency Manager (CEM), Associate Emergency Manager (AEM), and/or
Emergency Management Association of Texas (EMAT) Texas Emergency
Manager (TEM).
- Experience in applying complex technical documents and
interpreting technical manuals.
- Skilled in professional writing, such as proposals, reports,
grants, and presentations.
- Skilled in problem resolution and troubleshooting increasingly
complex problems.
- Analyze user needs; determine and implement proposals and
access; video and/or security solutions.
- Experience with Crisis Information Management Software
(CIMS).
- Experience with CS Gold Software or Equivalent.
- Experience with Oracle base products.
- Experience with Crystal Reports.Job Description:Assist the
Chief of Police with the administration, management, and oversight
of the University Police Department including rendering basic
police services in an effort to reduce incidences of crime and
enforce federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.Job Duties:
- Ensures the Operations Captain is informed of any critical
issues arising during the department's daily operations.
- Acts as a liaison with faculty, staff, and students regarding
university, departmental administrative, and legislative issues
impacting their department areas.
- Reviews and updates the Operations Captain on internal affairs
cases and criminal investigations.
- Participates in meetings with university personnel that could
influence their command area.
- Processes, evaluates, and circulates all incoming
correspondence related to their command area.
- Represents the Operations Captain and serves as a contact for
Civic and University Community Groups when necessary.
- Prepares and oversees the budget for their designated
areas.
- Addresses complaints and delegates internal affairs
investigations.
- Serves as the Chairperson for the Awards and Accident Review
committees.
- Collaborates with other law enforcement agencies.
- Manages the critical incident/newsworthy event archive.
- Oversees projects delegated by the Operations Captain.
- Executes all additional duties assigned by the Operations
