Documents the need for and implements the maintenance and emergency repairs to the same. Assures reliable utility service at specified conditions to the company.Demonstrates behavior that is consistent with the company's values of Customer Satisfaction, Innovation, Family, and Social Responsibility.Essential Job Functions/Tasks:1. Operates, trouble shoots and coordinates the repair and maintenance of all utility system electrical equipment to include electrical switch gears, control panels, generators, motors, and motor controls.2. Operates, trouble shoots and coordinates the repair and maintenance of all cogenerations mechanical equipment including but not limited to chillers, hydraulic systems, air compressors, pneumatic control valves, water systems, pumps, natural gas engines, boilers and steam system, cooling towers and air handlers.3. On a daily basis, monitors the chemistry for water treatment of the boilers, hot and chill water systems and cooling towers.4. Maintains central systems documentation. The operator is responsible for record-keeping. Makes entries in the daily logbook, takes equipment readings, makes amendments to technical manuals and schematics, orders equipment manufacture's manual updates. Performs computerized data entry for the preventative maintenance program and for the meter readings spreadsheet.5. Schedules the purchase and inventory of all parts and materials necessary for an efficient plant operation.6. Performs maintenance and repairs to equipment.7. Responds to equipment failures or problems associated with utility systems on weekends, holidays, or other times when the cogeneration plant is not staffed.Other Job Functions: Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.It is the responsibility of all Hunter employees to keep themselves and others safe. Employees are required to complete all mandatory safety trainings, know Hunter's safe work practices, use the appropriate personal protective equipment for the job, and immediately report all injuries, near misses and hazardous identifications to a Supervisor or the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Department. Those employees who do not comply with safe work practices may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Employees in management positions have an even greater responsibility that includes modeling safe behavior, ensuring employees on the team are following all safe work practices and completing training, and taking part in injury/illness investigations. A safe workplace must be the goal of everyone at Hunter Industries.Education/Training Required: Two years trade school or equivalent.Experience Required: Five years facility maintenance experience to include three years of progressive cogeneration operation, power plant, central chilled water plant, central hydraulic system and/or boiler plant, operation experience.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): KSA #1: Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical data sheets.KSA #2: May be asked to purchase own basic hand tools and electrical trouble-shooting equipment.KSA #3: Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.KSA #4: Must have basic computer skills.KSA #5: Must have good analytical skills.KSA #6: Must be able to work overtime when required.KSA #7: Must be available to work on an "on-call" basis as needed.Physical Demands: Intermittent standing and walking to move about and to perform work in cogeneration facility. Ability to sit for brief or sustained periods of time to complete paperwork activities and to enter data into the computer.Ability to climb stairs or ladders to gain access to upper levels of buildings and equipment. Ability to climb stepladders and attached ladders to gain access to high areas to perform work on the cogeneration system.Ability to work in a variety of body positions (bending, crouching, kneeling, twisting, lying on back) to gain access to areas to perform work on the cogeneration system.Ability to lift pumps, motors, panels, and other items weighing up to 70 pounds.Ability to use the arms and body to remove and replace pumps, motors, and other parts. Ability to reach above shoulders to work in high areas.Manual dexterity sufficient to use power equipment and hand tools. Finger dexterity sufficient to handle small parts, to use the computer and to complete paperwork activities.Visual acuity sufficient to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings and to complete paperwork activities.Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.Work Environment: Inside the shop and switch gear room. Exposure to heat humidity high noise levels and cold temperatures while working in the central plant areas.
