About This Role:
The Screw Machinist sets up, maintains, and troubleshoots both
muliti-spindle and single spindle screw machines to produce
precision metal components. The Screw Machinists also includes
maintaining industrial machines and applying knowledge of
mechanics, shop mathematics, layouts, control plans, and machining

Essential Job Functions/Tasks:
Independently, sets up and operates multi-spindle and single
spindle screw machines. Ensures set-up is to specification on
machine to product various types of parts. Installs and adjusts
specific tooling as needed. Tests the set up by observing and
inspecting first run and sample work piece to ensure machine
conforms to specifications.
Measures, examines, and tests completed components to detect
defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision
instruments such as gauges.
Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to
diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments
or repairs. Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools.
Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools,
to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where
Performs appropriate maintenance on industrial machines
regularly, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal
properties, layout, and machining procedures. Cleans and lubricates
machines, tools, and equipment to remove grease, rust, chips,
stains, and foreign matter.
Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks per
specification and acts in accordance with output. Tracks and
Trains and assists operators with machining operation,
techniques and quality and productivity as required.
Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives
specifically related to the function and department such as
recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste.
Attends all training provided and adheres to all procedures,
policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe
operating procedures at all times.
Brings any known or suspected nonconformance for all company
procedures or legal requirements to management's attention
Seeks opportunities to improve performance by establishing
objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our
Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of
mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Assists in the training of trainees and/or entry level
operators as and when needed.
Other Job Functions:
Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may
become essential to the position.

High School Diploma or GED is required.
A minimum of 2-5 years of experience or equivalent combination
of technical education and experience.
Working experience in manufacturing environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
KSA#1: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use shop and
KSA#2: Knowledge of multi-spindle and single-spindle machinery
and procedures, preferred.
KSA#3: Good verbal and written communication skills in English
and the ability to comprehend work instructions.
KSA#4: Ability to work within a team environment and demonstrate
KSA#5: Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable, and
KSA#6: Must be able to work on varying shifts as needed although
regularly scheduled on 1st shift. Training for the first few months
will be on 1st shift.

responsibilities and challenges.
KSA#9: Ability through either control mechanisms or direct
physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including
computers or vehicles).
KSA#10: Ability to conduct tests and inspections of products,

KSA#11: Experience and use of Shop Mathematics.
KSA#12: Excellent problem-solving skills and detail oriented.
Must be able to accurately perform intermediate mathematical and
statistical calculations and use a weight counting scale.
KSA#13: Must have strong interpersonal skills.

feel; and reach with hands and arms.
