Description At the San Diego Rescue Mission, we are driven by a

truck drivers play a key role in furthering the Mission’s
commitment to excellence in service and Christlike compassion. This
position supports program objectives, ensures operational
integrity, and reflects our values in every interaction with
clients, staff, and the public. Our SDRM Truck Drivers are
responsible for fulfilling the mission of San Diego Rescue Mission
by facilitating the pickups of food and material donations across
San Diego County. This position ensures the timely and efficient
transportation of donations, which directly support our students,
guests, and partner programs through effective warehouse
distribution. Each month, SDRM rescues nearly 300,000 lbs. of food,
partnering with more than 20 churches to provide food distribution
throughout San Diego County. The warehouse driver is essential in
sustaining these life-changing services and ensuring donated goods
reach those in need. Qualifications Key Responsibilities Safely
operate company vehicles to complete scheduled daily routes for
donation pickups, adhering to estimated times of arrival (ETAs).
Load and unload donations carefully, ensuring items are properly
packed to prevent damage during transit. Accurately weigh and
record food donation poundage. Follow all proper handling, food
safety, and donation intake procedures. Provide excellent customer
service and maintain positive relationships with donation partners.
Record all pickups and donations accurately using Pantry Soft, our
inventory and data management software. Assist in general warehouse
duties, including organizing and distributing food and materials as
needed. Collaborate with warehouse staff to support daily
operations and ensure timely distribution to program sites.
Demonstrate leadership and serve as a positive role model for SDRM
students, volunteers, and staff. Complete daily data entry and
reporting tasks related to pickups, donations, and inventory.
Receive, unload, sort, and process incoming food and material
donations. Ensure quality control of all donations and maintain a
clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment. Support and
participate in ministry-wide activities and chapels as applicable.
Collaborate cross-functionally to uphold trauma-informed practices
and ensure client dignity. Performs an average of 10-15 donation
pickups daily, ensuring timely and safe transport of goods
throughout San Diego County. Staff Expectations As a representative

SDRM operational and safety procedures, ensuring alignment with
warehouse standards and organizational values. Qualifications
Education: Minimum of High School Diploma Experience: Experience
working with individuals facing homelessness, trauma, or addiction
preferred but not required Minimum of [2] years driving and
operating experience of 26ft box trucks Valid driver’s license
Class C with a clean driving record. Strong knowledge of San Diego
County roads, streets and highways Familiar with food handling and
material goods Committed to safe driving practices and proper
techniques Skills & Abilities: Ability to function effectively in a
dynamic, faith-based environment Strong communication and
administrative skills Capable of maintaining emotional resilience
in challenging client situations Proficient in basic clerical tools
and software, including Microsoft Teams, Word and Google Maps
Skilled in the use of electric pallet jacks and forklift Ability to
multitask Work Environment and Physical Demands This role may
require walking, standing, lifting up to 30 lbs., and working
irregular hours, including evenings or weekends. Environment
includes residential program sites and client-facing spaces.
