Job Description Associate Chief Medical Informatics Officer for
Digital and Data Innovation: The ACMIO for Digital and Data
Innovation will support the use, adoption and optimization of Keck
Medicine of USC’s digital, data, and AI solutions in the ambulatory
and acute care settings while maintaining part-time active clinical
responsibilities. This role serves as an ambassador for innovation
and the use of digital and AI in clinical care. Summary: The ACMIO
for Digital and Data Innovation will primarily report to the Chief
Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO), with a dotted line to the
Associate CIO for Digital and Data Management and a Keck School of
Medicine clinical chair. Will work an average of four days (32
hours) per week, Monday through Friday, on Information Services
activities, with the remaining one day (8 hours) dedicated to
clinical duties or other Keck School of Medicine activities. This
is a hybrid position, including in-person work and potential remote
days, as assigned by the CMIO. The ACMIO for Digital and Data
Innovation will provide clinical informatics services across Keck
Medicine of USC facilities, as assigned by the CMIO, with a primary
focus on Digital and Data Innovation. Upholds high ethical
standards, keeps commitments, and collaborates effectively while
representing the needs of providers, clinicians, patients, and the
business. Promotes systems thinking while respectfully listening
and responding to requests, inquiries, and concerns. Leverages
clinical data and strong presentation skills while promoting
teamwork and cross-department collaboration. Participates in and
leads advisory and working groups, building trusting relationships
with physicians, nurses, clinicians, and business leaders and
staff. Leads and coordinates the transformation of clinical care
through the advanced use of information and technology. Provides
clinical leadership to improve provider engagement with clinical
information systems. Enables training and continuing education by
partnering with the Information Services training team, educating
clinicians on appropriate use of information technology, and
providing peer-to-peer support when needed. Supports other IT
leaders in their relationships with hospital leadership, medical
school leadership, and community practice leaders. Minimum
Experience/Accountabilities Holds an MD or DO degree. The ACMIO for

outstanding interpersonal skills and able to communicate and engage
effectively with attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses,
pharmacists, clerks, administrators, IT personnel and other
clinical and non-clinical staff. Listens well and facilitates
informed decision making through verbal and written communication.
Ability to clearly articulate and demonstrate the benefits and
limitations of technical solutions in both clinical and
non-clinical settings. Cerner / Oracle Health experience preferred.
Required License/Certification: Licensed to practice medicine in CA
or license must be obtained within 180 days of hire. and Board
certified in an ACGME recognized specialty. and LA City Fire and
Safety Certification. If no certification upon hire, must be
obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before
expiration date. and Board certified in Clinical Informatics and/or
a related degree (as MBA / MPH / MHA / MMM / Informatics)
preferred.
