Engineering Manager in San Marcos, Texas at Ameridrives This position is responsible for providing design and field engineering support as required. Provides production support to the machining and assembly areas in the facility. Engineering Manager provides direct supervision to subordinate designers, engineers, and the Quality section. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of new product design and design criteria. -
  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts. -
  • Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and locations of holes. -
  • Plans and formulates engineering program and organizes project staff according to project requirements. -
  • Assigns project personal to specific phases or aspects of project, such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing.
  • Develops and reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems. -
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products. -
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications and drawing releases. -
  • Uses computer assisted design / drafting equipment and software to develop designs. -Job Requirements
    • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write reports, operation instructions and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. -
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Education and Experience Requirements
      • B.S. (Bachelor's Degree) or equivalent from a four-year accredited college or university in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Preferred) Technology) or other technical discipline. -
      • 7 or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong mechanical design/analytical skills along with working knowledge of machining/manufacturing processes and equipment is required.
      • Experience with mechanical power transmission products/industries or related industrial equipment is desirable.
      • This position requires that the person be a highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently. -
