Description:1. Working in partnership with the Vice President of
Operations, the Accounting Manager is responsible for professional
accounting duties as they relate to reviewing, processing, and
maintaining financial records and reports, and management of
various accounting functions, including general accounting,
accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, benefits and labor
compliance. Must be highly proficient in construction accounting,
WIP schedules, and % complete by cost concepts.2. Oversees the data
and systems necessary for providing timely and accurate information
for financial reporting enabling management to make informed
decisions, attributing to the continued success of the company.1.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the A/R, A/P, HR and Payroll
functions. 2. Prepare month-end reconciliations of all balance
sheet accounts, including bank account reconciliations, prepaids,
fixed assets & depreciation, and various accruals.3. Timely and
accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and WIP
schedules. Analyze and explain significant fluctuations in account
balances. Present reports and findings to management.4. Manage and
monitor cash flows. Prepare weekly cash flow forecast. Oversee the
collection of A/R cash receipts, and approve weekly check runs.
Make certain collection issues are prioritized and addressed.5.
Develop, document and maintain a system of accounting policies and
procedures that follow U.S. GAAP and are designed to safeguard
company assets.6. Ensure all payables invoices are reviewed,
approved, entered and paid in a timely and accurate manner. Make
sure vendor statement discrepancies are investigated and
resolved.7. Ensure customer billings are sent timely and
accurately. Limit underbillings and maximize overbillings.8. Review
and approve weekly payroll (prepared by 3rd party).9. Schedule and
coordinate successful completion of regulatory audits, such as
insurance and state and federal tax agencies.10. Maintain a chart
of accounts that fulfills the recordkeeping needs of the
business.11. Oversee 401(k) Plan administration, including
maintaining compliance with eligibility and participation
requirements and timely remittance of weekly 401(k) payroll
withholdings.12. Facilitate timely completion of annual tax returns
with CPA firm.13. Maintains efficient and effective record-keeping
systems and audit trails.14. Works effectively with
cross-functional departments.15. Provides technical expertise,
assistance and direction regarding accounting issues and
discrepancies.16. Directs, coordinates, and evaluates job
assignments, schedule planning and personnel coverage to meet
timelines.17. Conducts one-on-one meetings with staff providing
support and coaching. 18. Prioritizes and assists staff with
problem solving.19. Performs deep dive and ad-hoc analyses into
various accounts to improve understanding of risks and
opportunities related to the business.Additional Skills &
Qualifications:Experience:--- Required: 4 to 6 years of progressive
accounting experience (minimum 2 years construction accounting
experience required).--- Required: 3 years' management/supervisor
experience. --- Preferred: 2 years' experience in public
accounting.4. A preferred working knowledge of the below
software:--- Microsoft Office Products--- Sage 3005. Abilities,
Skills, and Knowledge:--- Effective working knowledge of US GAAP
with expertise in revenue recognition, construction accounting
policies and procedures, and internal controls.--- Ability to
respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers,
regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.---
Comfortable using accounting software systems--- Proficiency in
Microsoft applications - advanced skill level with Excel--- Ability
to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in
