About this Role:

The Commodity Procurement Specialist analyzes, sources, negotiates, and completes the contract process for product and service programs. They will evaluate the effectiveness of the supply chain process for assigned commodities with the goal of achieving the greatest possible value consistent with specifications, delivery requirements and financial considerations.

Essential Functions:

  • Gathers market intelligence on how to obtain supplies from reliable vendors in a cost-effective manner. Develops long-term relationships with vendors for the purpose of ensuring a steady source of supplies. Analyzes and anticipates supplier risks, strengths, and weaknesses against a tactical and strategic timeframe. Communicates supply delays to appropriate departments and teams through distribution of concise reports and presentations.
  • Negotiates and implements supply agreements and/or purchase orders to meet business goals while sustaining relationships with suppliers. Counsels and directs vendors toward continuous improvement in performance. Creates, implements, and maintains purchasing programs with company suppliers. Ensures that the agreement process results in an accurate contract implementation as well as non-price considerations throughout the business cycle. Resolves problems related to quality, delivery, invoicing, rejections, payments between the company and suppliers.
  • Identifies profit improvement opportunities and develops and recommends programs to improve overall efficiencies. Performs detailed cost analysis and cost reduction activities. Leads or participates in material qualification projects. Provides ongoing analysis of existing products and services to ensure the greatest possible value.
  • Prepares monthly summary reports. Evaluates findings and makes recommendations regarding the effectiveness of product, service, or supplier.
  • Updates direct supervisor and material team on a weekly basis on all assigned activities.

    Education/Training Required and Preferred:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Supply Chain, or Procurement or a combination of education and relevant work experience.

      Experience Required and Preferred:

      • Minimum of three years of procurement or supplier management experience, including RFQ development and analysis of services and products.

        What You Bring:

        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
        • Intermediate computer skills in JD Edwards, MS Office, and MS Project.
        • Supply chain management experience, with the ability to successfully match supply and demand for assigned products and commodities.
        • Strong manufacturing product and commodity knowledge. Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes and familiar with commodity management strategies.
        • Strong negotiation skills. Must be able to resolve scheduling and sourcing conflicts within timelines.
        • Good project management skills. Experience in planning and implementing strategic change.
        • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
        • Requires ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines.
        • Able to be flexible and able to adapt to changing organizational needs.

            The salary for this opportunity ranges from $60,950-$82,700.

            The Company complies with all federal/local/state regulations in regard to pay. The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition. Compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined by qualifications, prior experience, other job-related factors, and geographic location.
